This Blog installment is being written because most of us have lived in ignorance about the beliefs of different world religions.
This blog only addresses the major most important basic beliefs. Rituals are not addressed, because they are seen as supplemental to basic beliefs.
A blog like this is shared because I, you and everyone else is going to die. And what happens after that may well be determined by a decision we make now.
Hinduism Beliefs
- There are no known believers or priests that can claim they are one with Braham.
- Immortal soul inhabits one body after another.
- Karma determines reincarnation in humans or even animals.
- Nothing can change what karma determines.
- There is no mercy, forgiveness, or appeal.
- Hinduism believes this because they were born into a society that taught this to the masses, who, of course, are not likely to ask questions.
- Hinduism involves innumerable gods (spirits) that are worshipped.

- Buddhism
- There is no scientific proof that reincarnation is real.
- Reincarnation is, it seems, just a religious belief.
- Buddhism claims man has no soul, no enduring self.
- No enduring self, which goes through rebirth, just a set of feelings and impressions.
- A person’s spirit remains close by and seeks out a new body and a new life.
- Words, thoughts and deeds form karma.
- Human life is a cycle of suffering and rebirth.
- If enlightenment is reached, cycle can be escaped. This means end of physical body, end of mind and complete annihilation.
- No explanation of what “enlightenment” really is.
- Only priests hope to reach enlightenment.
- Seems the usual follower would go through reincarnations without end.
- Accumulation of negatives karma can lead to rebirth as animal, hungry ghosts, etc.
- The central figure of devotion for Buddhists is an image of Buddha to which devotees bring prayers, candles, fruit and flowers, etc.
Sikhism
- Believe the soul reincarnates when the body dies.
- The soul goes through a cycle of rebirths.
- Includes the belief of karma and transmigration.
- Death is a natural part of the life cycle but the soul remains.
- The body that the soul is born into (reincarnation) is determined by karma.
- Sikhism repudiates a physical place called heaven or hell.
- Rejects the belief of a judgement day.
- Believes in reincarnation but merely the progression of the soul on its journey toward their god.
- One’s form on earth is only a temporary vessel for the eternal soul.
Hare Krishna
- Belief in karma and reincarnation.
Jainism
- Believes the soul goes through rebirths.
Tibetan Buddhism
- The Dalai Lama believes in reincarnation.
- The belief is he is a reincarnation.
Shintoism
- Shintoism is the worship of nature and ancestors. The spirit of man survives bodily death and continues to assist the living.
Zoroastrianism
- This faith believes humans are born and die only once.
- On the fourth day after dying humans cross over a bridge of judgement.
- For good souls the bridge is the path to heaven. Bad souls fall to perdition.
The Tarot Belief
- Reincarnation has long been one of the esoteric tarots “hidden teachings”.
Judaism – Orthodox Judaism
- Man has a soul.
- Believe in the future resurrection of the dead.
- If the person does not believe in future resurrection then he/she will not be resurrected.
Reform Judaism
- There is no belief of a literal future resurrection but maintains that there is a spiritual life after death..
Indigenous People of North America
- Have a belief in reincarnation.
- The soul, after death, lis reborn within the tribe.
- A soul could have an indefinite stay in a pleasant hunting ground.
- Some may have accepted the Christian faith.
Islam
- The Islam faith rejects the concept of reincarnation.
Confucianism
- Honor ancestors.
- Emphasize the duties of the living rather than speculation about life of the dead.
Christianity Beliefs
- Man has a soul. There is no reincarnation.
- People who accept what Jesus accomplished on the cross and his resurrection go to heaven.
- Jesus said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also”. (John 14:2,3)
Taoism
- There is no personal Creator-God.
- This perspective is that one will die and be reborn in another being.
Zen Buddhism
- There is no transcendent God.
- There is no hereafter.
Theosophy
- Belief in reincarnation.
Astrology
- Belief in reincarnation.
Spiritualism (Spiritism)
- Belief in reincarnation.
New Age
- New Agers accept the concept of reincarnation and believe that future rebirths allow the individual human soul to slowly develop itself. Adaptive of the Hindu concept of reincarnation.
